Ecological features at Middle Farm Barns They are heated by a ground source heat pump. There are 2 x 67m trenches extending from the barns into the paddock.
In the trenches are coils of pipe which take heat from the ground that is at a constant 10 degrees Celsius.
The heat exchanger uses this energy to heat the under floor heating pipes and water.
The heat pump was supplied by Ice Energy at www.iceenergy.co.uk
This shows the trenches being dug across the farmyard.
The electricity supplier to the Barns is Ecotricity, an electricity company committed to investing in sources of green energy. For more information visit www.ecotricity.co.uk
The barns have high levels on insulation and energy saving blinds.
There is a reused barrel water butt collecting rainwater from the roof for use in the garden.
Guests are encouraged to recycle their waste and there are collecting boxes to facilitate this. |
